Instructions

In a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, and chopped celery, cooking until the vegetables are softened and the meat is browned. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, red wine (if using), tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 20-30 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions in a separate pot of salted boiling water. Drain the spaghetti in a colander. Stir the whole milk into the Bolognese sauce and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve the Classic Spaghetti Bolognese over the cooked spaghetti. Optionally, top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Enjoy this comforting and delicious dish with your loved ones!
